Our Story

Although known now as “We Grow Plants”, the original name and the man behind the business began about a half a century ago, near the NSW town of Morisset.  

A young, immigrant man, Vasili (Bill), left his home land of Greece in the 1970’s to travel to Australia for a holiday. However, he fell in love with the country and its people and never left!

Having grown up in a small village in the hills of Greece, Bill and his siblings spent all their time outdoors, utilising the land around them for food and water. It was then, at a tender age, where Bill began his interest (and later, pursuit) in natural medicine. This would later lead to studying Herbal Medicine and becoming a professional Medical Herbalist, where he ran a successful practice for decades, alongside his busy Plant Nursery business.  

Fast forward to today, Bill, and Jilliana (along with son Austin), keep very busy operating “We Grow Plants” Plant Nursery from their beautiful farm on the NSW Mid Coast, located approximately 1 hour’s drive north of Newcastle.

Combining their passions for Horticulture and Health, Bill and Jill's approach to raising plants is as wholesome, simple and yet painstaking, as one would expect! Once you take a stroll through the nursery, you quickly see the representation of health and vitality in abundance in their plants. Many clientele comment that they have “never seen such healthy plants” (and we would have to agree!)
